The MTR map might look complex, but finding a midway point just comes down to identifying the most convenient interchanges.
1. Identify the "Big Four" Interchanges
Admiralty, Central, Mong Kok, and Kowloon Tong are the super-hubs of the MTR system. If you and your friends are on different lines, chances are one of these stations will be a convenient meeting point for everyone.
2. Use the Red Line (Tsuen Wan) as the Spine
The red line runs through the heart of Kowloon and connects to Hong Kong Island. Stations along this line, like Tsim Sha Tsui, Jordan, and Mong Kok, are excellent, activity-packed midway points for most journeys.
3. Don't Underestimate the Green Line (Kwun Tong)
The green line connects many residential areas in East Kowloon. If you have friends living along this line, meeting at an interchange like Kowloon Tong or Mong Kok is far easier than making them travel all the way to the island.
4. For Cross-Harbour Meetups, Think One Stop
If one friend is in Kowloon and the other on the Island, the fairest spots are often just one stop from the harbour crossing. Meeting in Tsim Sha Tsui (one stop from Central) or Admiralty (one stop from TST via the Tsuen Wan Line) is a solid strategy.
5. When in Doubt, Head to a Mall-Connected Station
Stations like Kowloon Tong (Festival Walk), Sha Tin (New Town Plaza), and Central (IFC) are linked to huge malls. This makes them foolproof meeting spots, offering shelter, food, and shopping all in one place.
