Street food is a way of life in Bangkok. It's fast, cheap, and incredibly delicious. A street food tour is the perfect, casual way to catch up with a friend.
1. Yaowarat Road (Chinatown)
The undisputed king. At night, the main road in Chinatown transforms into a massive street food carnival. Look for seafood stalls, dim sum, and the famous toasted bread with sweet fillings. It's a loud, chaotic, and delicious adventure.
2. Victory Monument (Anusawari Chai Samoraphum)
This busy transport hub is also a hub for street food, especially "boat noodles" (kway teow reua). These are small, flavor-packed bowls of noodle soup that cost next to nothing. See how many bowls you can stack!
3. Phetchaburi Soi 5
A local's favorite. This street near Ratchathewi BTS is packed with vendors selling authentic, cheap, and delicious food. It's known for its Isan (Northeastern Thai) food. Less touristy and very tasty.
4. Jodd Fairs Night Market
The trendy new night market on the scene. It has a great mix of classic street food and modern, Instagrammable snacks like volcanic pork-bone soup ('leng saap') and fresh seafood. Great vibes and easy to get to via MRT.
5. Wang Lang Market
Located across the river from the Grand Palace, this market caters to students and staff from the nearby Siriraj Hospital. This means it's packed with authentic and incredibly cheap food stalls. A great spot for a daytime food crawl.
